Cargo claims, measured from the dock to the warehouse

A cargo loss is rarely only about the broken item. The survey has to follow the goods from the dock, through packing and transit, to the warehouse where the damage was found.
Bills of lading, packing lists, and delivery notes show whether the loss was already visible when the goods changed hands. Photographs of the outer packing matter as much as photographs of the contents.
The report should say what was damaged, what can be repaired, and what has to be written off. That split is what lets the claim move to settlement without another round of questions.
