A short guide to reading a survey report

A useful survey report can be read in one pass. It states the instructions, what was inspected, what was found, and the figure recommended for settlement.
The findings should match the photographs. If a paragraph describes damage that no photo shows, or a photo shows damage the text never mentions, the file is not ready.
The closing note should be specific: repair, replacement, or a reduction for betterment and salvage. Readers should not have to infer the recommendation from the narrative.
